How do I connect Sales Montana to Claude?

Sign in with your Sales Montana login. There is no API key to copy. The connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, and it re-reads your role on every call, so the assistant can never do more than you can. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code find the login from the server address. You approve the connection on a Sales Montana page and pick a level.

In Claude

1. Open Claude and go to Customize, then Connectors.
2. Click + and choose Add custom connector.
3. Name it Sales Montana and paste the server address: https://app.salesmontana.com/mcp
4. Click Add, then Connect.
5. Approve on the Sales Montana page and choose a level.

In ChatGPT (web, paid plans)

1. Open Settings, then Security and login.
2. Switch on Developer mode.
3. Go to Plugins, Add, Create MCP App.
4. Paste the server address under Connection with OAuth.
5. Approve the connection.

In Claude Code

1. Run claude mcp add --transport http sales-montana https://app.salesmontana.com/mcp
2. Type /mcp inside Claude Code to sign in.

For scheduled jobs, n8n or a script, make a personal token in Settings, Your account, AI assistants. Send it as Authorization: Bearer. A token ends after 30, 90 or 365 days, or never. The same screen lists your connections, a Remove button, and the recent changes assistants made. Access tokens last an hour and refresh tokens last 60 days, so the assistant renews its own access without a new sign-in. Full setup notes are in the MCP documentation.

You ask in plain words. The assistant reads your workspace and answers.

For a rep

• What should I focus on today?

For a manager

• Import these 50 leads into my campaign. (Act level, admins only. Up to 200 at a time, with a preview first.)

For an agency

• Which client campaigns ran this week?
• Show the recent calls for this client workspace.

What can it change, and what can't it?

A connection has three levels. Each level includes the one before it. Pick the lowest level that does the job. A rep who only asks questions can stay on Read.

Client accounts are read only at every level. Adding a number to Do Not Call is admin only at the write level.

No connection places a call, touches billing, sends an email, or changes a role. Email is drafted for the rep to review and never sent by the assistant.

Is it safe?

• Every lookup is bounded to the connection's workspace.
• Changes go through the same code Montana uses. Each one is re-checked and carries an undo.
• The undo refuses if a person changed the record since the assistant did.
• Importing, finding and assigning leads answer with a preview first. They act only on a second confirmed call.
• A connection allows 120 calls a minute. Lead finding allows 200 leads a day per workspace.
• Every call is logged and shown under Recent changes in settings.
• Removing a connection refuses the assistant from then on.
• Transcripts and notes come back as data. The server tells the assistant to treat them as information, never as instructions.

One plain point: connecting an outside assistant means that assistant reads your call data. That is worth knowing before you turn it on, especially in a regulated industry.
